Signature dishes such as the Claddagh Surf 'N' Turf showcase a perfect blend of flavors, while their expertly prepared Lobster Risotto offers a creamy, comforting experience, though some diners wished for a more pronounced lobster flavor. Nonetheless, the scallops are often praised as the highlight of the meal, perfectly seared and bursting with freshness.
What truly sets Claddagh Oyster House apart, however, is not only the fantastic food but also the top-notch service. Every visit is an occasion to try something new—the Sticky Date Pudding and Peanut Butter Chocolate Mousse are just a couple of the tempting dessert options often recommended. With the bustling atmosphere and the engaging staff, it’s no wonder guests often find themselves returning for both lunch and dinner on the same day, looking to savor every delicious bite. “ All the food was fantastic. Great atmosphere. Our waiter was on top of everything. The kids menu is kid approved . Wish we had room for dessert. We reserved a table in advance so I'm not sure what their wait time is normally like. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants a great dinning experience. ”
“ We love this place so much we went there for lunch and dinner the same day! Kelly was our server and we had the best service we have had retry much anywhere! The jerk spiced crabs legs are too die for and a must have - just be prepared to get messy! The rib eye steak was also perfectly cooked and so delicious. Definitely a must visit if in Charlottetown. ”
“ My first restaurant in PEI and boy did I pick well. I got the day's Market Feature (halibut, scallops, and prawn) and oysters. Everything was finely executed, just enough sear and seasonings to bring out the natural/subtle flavors/textures of seafood. I've never tasted scallops so delicately sweet! The veggies and side greens were delish too. The greens, especially had a surprising umami flavor. Sitting at the bar, I got to see the oysters shucked in front of me, which was also a nice treat. Jonah, the bartender that night, was super friendly, made me a mocktail that captured all my preferences (citrus, herbal, not too sweet), and gave me good recos on what to do in PEI. If I wasn't trying to cut down on sugar, I definitely would have tried their dessert. The wife of the couple sitting next to me highly recommended the date pudding (her husband contemplated licking the plate clean). ”
“ It’s the best restaurant we’ve ever been to during the shoulder season (End of April 2025) in Charlottetown, PEI and even throughout our East Coast trip (Fredericton, Saint John, Moncton, Shediac in NB or Halifax in Nova Scotia). Highest recommendation goes to their “seafood chowder.” It has everything in it, including the “melts in your mouth” salmon belly. We’ve ordered this in all the restaurants we’ve been to for this East Coast trip and honestly, nothing comes close to this chowder, not to mention they were the cheapest for 18! We even tried Claddagh’s sister company in Halifax but they’re so different from each other I wish I can go back to Claddagh very soon! Oysters are also good but the best ones are the Rustico ones if you like it briny. Burger was their feature for PEI Burger Love which was also great and meaty! Highly recommend to get a reservation as theyre extremely busy and full. We were lucky that they had space at the bar and they were able to accommodate us even though wedidnt have a reservation when we went. ”
“ Dining at Claddagh Oyster House was a delightful culinary experience from entrance to seating, the food, and even the washroom. The meal starts off with biscuits and butter as an appetizer, which were tasty. For the entree, we ordered the Claddagh Surf 'N' Turf, the Lobster Risotto, and some fresh oysters. The pork belly and the apple chutney complemented each other very well, but the real star of the Surf 'N' Turf were the scallops which were amazing. The risotto was slightly underwhelming because I could not taste the lobster all that much, but still good. Oysters felt very fresh and refreshing, would highly recommend trying a few. Service was excellent and everyone including the bartenders were very professional and friendly. As a side note, many of the staff recommended the goat cheese which we were very curious of, but did not order. ”
“ Last night, we had the pleasure of dining at Claddagh Oyster House in Charlottetown, and it was truly one of the best dinner experiences we’ve had. Our server, Andrew, provided outstanding service throughout the night. He was so knowledgeable and friendly— his wine recommendations perfectly complemented our meal, and his thoughtful gesture of bringing extra biscuits when he noticed how much we enjoyed them added a personal touch that made us feel truly valued. We began our meal with the mussels, steamed in white wine and garlic— so good! For our main courses, we chose the Maple Mustard Salmon and the Claddagh Surf & Turf which was pork belly and scallops with an apple-raisin chutney. The pork belly, in particular, was a standout—it was one of the best bites we’ve ever had. Our early reservation at 5:30 PM allowed us to enjoy a quiet atmosphere before the dinner rush. The restaurant’s cozy setting, combined with its commitment to showcasing fresh, local ingredients, made for a beautiful dinner. We’re already planning our return trip to Charlottetown this summer, with Claddagh Oyster House at the top of our list to celebrate our 5 year anniversary. If you’re seeking a dining experience that combines exceptional service, beautiful food, and a welcoming atmosphere, Claddagh is a must-visit while in Charlottetown. ”
“ My hubby and I tried mussels from 7 or 8 different places around PEI and this place had the best! Nice and hot, perfect flavour and the BEST sourdough bread charred. We sat at the bar and it was so nice to see the staff in action shucking! We walked in so the bar was the only option but I’m really glad we sat there because it was good entertainment . Staff was very attentive and kind to us, especially when they knew we were trying oysters for the first time. Big recommend to this place! Classy, elegant with professional staff. ”
“ PEI’s best restaurant!! First off -waitstaff was amazing. Clearly a professional. The wine selection is fabulous & recommendation was spot on! We started with oysters - again our servers knowledge was perfect!! The selection (East vs. west) is terrific. They were perfectly shucked & the mignonette was amazing. We specifically chose Wednesday dinner as they serve prime rib. It was 10/10. Perfectly cooked to a medium rare & the starch & veg were also delicious. The tenderloin was also perfect! The beef is clearly a well aged & extremely tender - perfectly executed. Unfortunately there was no room for desert this visit!! Next time - as I know the sticky date pudding is amazing!! ”
